CHF, LIVING WITH IT!

This is an educational program for outpatients living with congestive heart failure. The four week series will consist of understanding CHF; nutrition for your heart; medications for your heart; and physical therapy and your heart. The series will be repeated monthly and participants are welcome to join at any point.

Migraine... Tension... Sinus... Cluster... There are many different types of headaches that chronically affect over 45 million Americans. Join us for National Headache Awareness Week and learn more about headaches. Dr. Kareem will discuss what headaches are, what causes them, various treatment methods, and when you should speak with a doctor.

How's Your Skin?

Before we settle into our beach chairs and relax in the sun, think about this: Each year about one million people in the United States learn they have skin cancer. The good news is skin cancer is now almost 100 percent curable if found early and treated promptly. Join Dr. Shah as he presents a brief update on skin cancer with a question and answer period.

Look Good, Feel Better

In conjunction with the American Cancer Society, Holyoke Medical Center will present a beauty lesson, with a cosmetologist, free make-up kit (value of $250) and a great time, during a very special program designed to help cancer patients. "Look Good, Feel Better" is an American Cancer Society program for women who are in treatment for cancer and may be experiencing hair loss and skin changes. Find out more about wig care, styling and tips on how to utilize scarves and turbans at the program. Please join us with a friend or family member and indicate skin tone on the registration form - the group will be small and intimate - limited to eight women in treatment.

Diabetics and their families are invited to attend this program on diabetes self management. The program offers a team approach to helping participants make better judgments about their care and to promote independence. Sessions will focus on what diabetes is, medication, diet, and the role exercise plays. This program is held five times a year, the first Thursday of the month during January, March, May, September and November.

Stroke Support Group -
Open to all stroke patients and their families and care givers. A speech-language pathologist will conduct a focused language/memory/therapeutic activity for part of each session; however, the primary goal is socialization and an opportunity for patients and families to share experiences and ideas.
