Holyoke Medical Center Teams Up With Junior Achievement To Offer Job Shadowing
Holyoke Medical Center is teaming up with Junior Achievement and the Holyoke High School to offer five students the opportunity to job shadow in various departments of the medical center on Tuesday, April 15 between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon.
Participants will be shadowing in nursing, laboratory, occupational therapy and physical therapy and will be given the opportunity to discuss and explore the various aspects of these careers as well as the skills and education requirements necessary to obtain them.
"Holyoke Medical Center is pleased to be able to expose high school students to some of the possible career opportunities in the healthcare field," said Holyoke Medical Center CEO Spiros Hatiras. "We hope that this experience will help young people to make informed career choices and motivate them to do well academically in order to achieve their goals."
After their shadowing experience, students will join other students, teachers and workplace hosts for a luncheon to review what they observed and learned during the day's activities.
Holyoke Medical Center is dedicated to being a strong community partner and addressing the community's health needs. By partnering with Junior Achievement's Job Shadow Program, an opportunity is provided for career explorations for students in an effort to increase educational achievement.
