HOLYOKE MEDICAL CENTER WELCOMES TWO NEW SLEEP LAB PROVIDERS
Holyoke Medical Center has recently expanded the Sleep Lab services with the addition of two new providers: Dr. Rani Athreya and Kristie Harrington, FNP.
“We are proud to welcome Dr. Athreya and Kristie to the Holyoke Medical Center family. Their expertise in sleep medicine has allowed Holyoke Medical Center to continue providing the highest quality of care in an area with great significance on people’s health,” said Spiros Hatiras, President and CEO of Holyoke Medical Center and Valley Health Systems.
Rani Udayjag Athreya, MD, a board certified sleep medicine specialist, attended the Madras Medical College in India. She then completed a residency in internal medicine at Brookdale University Hospital & Medical Center in Brooklyn, a residency in neurology at State University of New York in Brooklyn, and a fellowship in movement disorders at the University of Massachusetts. In addition to sleep medicine, Dr. Athreya is also board certified in psychiatry and neurology, and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Movement Disorder Society, and the Massachusetts Medical Society.
Kristie Harrington, FNP, received her nurse practitioner degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston and has specialized in neurology and sleep health since 2016. She is a member of the Academy of Neurology and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.
Holyoke Medical Center has offered sleep studies for 20 years and provides both home studies and studies in the sleep lab. The studies monitor patients while they sleep and help technicians gather information about the quality of sleep, heart rate, breathing, and oxygen levels. That information gives the providers the data necessary for an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan.
