Volunteers

Our medical center volunteers are special people of all ages who care enough to give their time to others. Volunteers support our staff in many ways, from serving as couriers to assisting in the emergency department.

Seeking Interfaith Chaplains

“Holyoke Medical Center is proud of our holistic approach to wellness. With spirituality being a critical component to patient care, we are looking to expand our interfaith chaplain team to better serve our patients, their families, and our medical staff,” said hospital Chaplain, Reverend Joe DeGrande.

The hospital is seeking individuals who have served as an interfaith chaplain or completed a Clinical Pastoral Education program (CPE), and have relevant experience in honoring patients of diversified faith traditions and beliefs. The need is especially great during weekend hours and all schedules are cheerfully accommodated.

Companions for the Journey Program

The program seeks volunteers to provide presence and companionship to patients who are at the end of life, especially those with no family or friends near. Our goal is to ensure that a patient in their final hours will not be alone. The role of the volunteer is to positively interact with the patient, staff, and the patient’s family members. Training and resources are provided. Volunteers are placed on a call tree with your availability.

All Holyoke Medical Center volunteers are required to participate in an onboarding process, an orientation, and receive a photo identification badge.
