DNV Accredited Hospital
Holyoke Medical Center has earned national accreditation by DNV Healthcare for demonstrating it meets or exceeds patient safety standards (Conditions of Participation) set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. DNV’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation, which Holyoke Medical Center achieved in 2018.

DNV’s accreditation program, called NIAHO® (National Integrated Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), involves annual hospital surveys – instead of every three years – and encourages hospitals to openly share information across departments and to discover improvements in clinical workflows and safety protocols.

ISO 9001:2015
In 2018 Holyoke Medical Center achieved certification to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, reflecting the organization’s commitment to quality, transparency, and customer satisfaction. Holyoke Medical Center is the first and only hospital in Western Massachusetts to obtain this prestigious accomplishment. The certification is valid for three years and is provided by DNV GL – Business Assurance.

Certified Primary Stroke Center
Holyoke Medical Center has received certification from DNV as a Primary Stroke Center, affirming the hospital’s readiness to handle stroke-related medical problems. 

Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll Quality Achievement Award.
Holyoke Medical Center is a Stroke Center of Excellence, with annual recognition by the American Stroke Association and the Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Program at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Leapfrog Group Top Hospital

The Leapfrog Group 2020, 2016 & 2014 Top Hospital
The Leapfrog Group named Holyoke Medical Center to its annual list of Top Hospitals in 2020, 2016, and 2014. An elite distinction awarded to hospitals nationwide for demonstrating excellence in hospital safety and quality through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is given to less than seven percent of all eligible hospitals.

Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Comprehensive Center
The Holyoke Medical Center’s Weight Management Program, is accredited as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Accreditation with commendation obtained by Holyoke Medical Center ensures our patients will have access to the full scope of services required to diagnose, treat, rehabilitate, and support patients with cancer and their families.

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
Holyoke Medical Center was the first hospital in Western Massachusetts to successfully complete the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program of the American College of Surgeons.
