AMHERST – November 4, 2026 — Holyoke Medical Center will open its new Sports Medicine Collaborative in December 2026 at 100 University Drive in Amherst, under the medical direction of Jonathan Fallon, DO, MS. The collaborative will bring together a multidisciplinary team of specialists to help patients recover from injuries, improve function, and return to activities they enjoy. Appointments are now being accepted by calling (413) 534-2887.
“The Sports Medicine Collaborative will combine orthopedics, injury care, sports medicine, and rehabilitation. We are happy to welcome Dr. Fallon to our team and are excited for the expansion into Amherst,” said Spiros Hatiras, President and CEO of Holyoke Medical Center. “The location on University Drive is very convenient, especially for the athletic partnerships Holyoke Medical Center has in place in that area.”
Dr. Fallon is a board-certified, fellowship-trained physician bringing nearly 20 years of experience caring for individuals and athletes. His clinical specialties include sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery (minimally invasive joint surgery), and shoulder surgery. He also serves on the editorial staff of the Journal of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (JAOAO), reviewing submissions related to sports medicine and shoulder and elbow care.
“My interest in sports medicine primarily came from my specialty in shoulder and elbow anatomy. During my arthroscopy and sports medicine fellowship at UMASS, I had the opportunity to care for the Boston Red Sox. This sparked my interest with the rehab process and the journey a patient takes from injury to healing and getting back to athletic activities,” said Dr. Fallon. “It’s important to me to understand not only the medical condition in front of me, but also the many aspects of a patient’s life that influence their recovery and ability to return to health.”
The Sports Medicine Collaborative will offer a holistic and multidisciplinary model of care, combining injury care, sports medicine, regenerative medicine, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and performance optimization to provide patients with a unique experience. Holyoke Medical Center’s coordinated approach will empower patients to recover, improve function, and achieve their peak potential.
