Work Connection - DOT Exam

The Work Connection is an established Occupational Medicine Clinic in the heart of the Pioneer Valley, serving numerous local businesses in the area with an array of services including DOT Physicals.

What Does A DOT Physical Exam Involve?

A DOT Physical exam takes between 30-45 minutes. If you pass the exam you will receivti your DOT card and a copy of documentation at the end of your visit.

During your appointment you will complete the DOT medical form required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration(FMCSA) including documentation of your current medications, surgical history and a list of health questions.

You will then undergo a physical exam to assess your physical and mental health to ensure there are no medical conditions that could interfere with your ability to safely operate a vehicle/machinery.

The exam will include blood pressure/vitals check, weight check, eye exam, hearing test, urine test to assess for blood, sugar and protein. A licensed medical provider will then complete a hands-on physical to include but not limited to examining:

  • General appearance
  • Eyes/Ears/Mouth
  • Back and Spine
  • Nervous system
  • Heart/Lungs/Chest
  • Abdomen
  • Extremities/ motor strength
  • Mental status

Patients with pre-existing medical conditions are urged to bring documentation related to those conditions. Failure to disclose health conditions can result in disqualification from receiving a DOT medical card. You may call our office to discuss if documentation is needed for your exam.
