The Institute for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at Holyoke Medical Center is here to provide expert care in the diagnoses and treatment of conditions related to the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. The Institute is lead by Frederik Pennings, MD, PhD, an internationally recognized expert in minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Pennings and our experienced spinal surgery team is able to tailor treatments using patient-centered, evidence-based, multidisciplinary care. Minimally invasive surgical techniques offer a quicker recovery, lower risk of infection, and shorter hospital stay. Common conditions that may warrant minimally invasive spine surgery include: spinal stenosis, scoliosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis, cervical and lumbar disc herniation, and SI joint pathology.
