HOLYOKE, MA - June 12, 2017 - Holyoke Medical Center will open its new $25.3 million Emergency Department early next month. The hospital has scheduled multiple events allowing employees, dignitaries, donors, and community members a chance to tour the facility before it opens.

"For the past 18 months we have been building the Emergency Department our community deserves. Now that the construction is complete, we are happy to invite the community to take a tour of the facility before it opens through a variety of events," said Spiros Hatiras, President and CEO of Holyoke Medical Center and Valley Health Systems.
Monday, June 19th at 10:30am will be the official ribbon cutting ceremony. The event will include many state and local officials, donors and employees.
Tuesday, June 27th, 5 - 7pm, the hospital will host a regional "After 5" event in collaboration with the local Chambers of Commerce from Holyoke, Chicopee, South Hadley/Granby and West Springfield/Agawam.
Saturday, July 1st, 12 - 2pm, the hospital will host a free community celebration and cookout. This will be an opportunity for the whole family to come and tour the new Emergency Department. In addition to the tour, hamburgers, hotdogs, watermelon and ice cream will be provided.
The new emergency department is a 20,750 square foot facility featuring a new Crisis Center for Behavioral Health Services, 40 treatment areas, multi-patient trauma rooms, advance lifesaving equipment and a patient navigation service. Once open, HMC will be able to treat patients in a more efficient and private way.
The second floor of the building will be the new offices of gastroenterology, general surgery, and the weight management program.
